Intense red ruby colour, with notes of cherries, flowers, and vanilla. Full bodied wine with a persistent and long finish.
Nero d’Avola grapes, grow in San Cataldo, in Central Sicily in the Caltanissetta district at approx. 500m a s.l.. Medium texture limestone, clay soil and a perfect temperature range, ensure great conditions during all the ripening phases. Vines are planted facing South using the trellis system, guyot pruning.
An average year with not too much rain in winter, a cool spring and a relatively mild summer ensured a good development of the different phenological phases.
Hand-picked on September 18th. 10 days before picking date, half of the grapes are cut off and left on the plant to dry under the warm Sicilian sun. The parcel is then harvested. After de-stemming and maceration of the skins for about 15 days at 24°C in stainless steel tanks. Part of the wine then spends about 6 months in used 250 liters Oak barrels.
